Eva Berendes’ works interrogate how we establish an object as a painting, or a painting as an object.They examine the constituent elements of image-making and unfold painting as an expanded field of production and a process of layering intervals of various surfaces. Rhetorics of geometric abstraction are seen in relationship to the human body, to architectural space, and to other objects, whether these objects are quotidian products or artifacts from the Applied Arts.  © All Images
